Why is there currently such a rush to develop home based businesses? It seems to me that we are going through a major shift in the way marketing is performed. In this discussion, I am going to explain some of the factual reasons why this is occurring and then give you some of my perceptive ideas about this current industry revolution.

First let us  discuss some of the factual reasons.

1. There are many of us in the work force that are tired of the one or two hours of commuting to and from work each day with the loss of time that can never be recovered. In many of us this adds to  a level of stress giving to depression or anger because we would  rather be spending that valuable time doing other things expecially quality time with our family.

2. With the current increase in transportation costs that our society is enduring, this leads to an another stress factor affecting our personal budgets. Not only is the price of gasoline at the pumps a factor, but the mass transit systems are having to eliminate some of their routes besides increasing the cost of fares.

3.There are many of us who work in the corporate world who would prefer to eliminate some of the uncomfortable arenas that are required of us. Some of these arenas are quite onerous and may even conflict with our personal values. Also, there comes a time when we realize that we are like a puppet on a string and at the beck and call of someone else who is in control of our future. Finally, we become frustrated at giving our time and talent to promote someone else's income and prestige.

4. One advantage of a home based internet business is that you don't have to have any employees. Consequently you don't have the responsibility of hiring and firing. You also don't have to do the book keeping for payroll taxes and provide employee benefits

5.Perhaps the most important change is with the internet itself and with the many marketing tools available through the internet. Autoresponders, search engines and ezines are to mention a few of these helpful tools.

I am certain that there are many more factual reasons, but let us go to some of the perceptive reasons. Those of us who are interested in developing a home based internet business have an inner desire to be self employed. Even though there is the threat of failure, there seems to be enough drive to want to succeed in a totally different arena. The goal being more free time with our family and an improved lifestyle.
